Gentlemen & ladies from the print & electronic media – we are glad to inform you that the Contract Bridge Association or just CBA , has been formed. Quite significantly , it has been a result of the efforts & association of leading bridge players of India, spread over many prominent states of the country .

CBA ' s main focus areas will be bridge awareness , education & promotion. Bridge is a wonderful mind sport (and no ordinary card game ) having global presence . Under the leadership of WORLD BRIDGE FEDERATION ( WBF ), there are more than 100 countries who participate in bridge activities & tournaments worldwide. WBF has been recognized by IOC. However, unless the great ingredients of bridge are taken to the masses and other entities concerned , unless people are made aware of this great sport and are provided opportunities to learn it , it will not attain its deserving status & presence. This is precisely what has been lacking in India and CBA plans to fill this void. CBA believes that bridge has great potential in India and can be a 'medal hope sport' for the country.

Already , the efforts have started in this direction . An inaugural zonal tournament was very successfully conducted in Mumbai from 8 th to 10 th July . Other zonal will follow soon. On other front , ' Bridge For Youth ' programme is under finalization and very soon action will start here.

CBA appeals to the media to recognize the greatness of this sport , visit the tournament venues , get familiar with the way it is organized & played and also appreciate the need for spreading more awareness about bridge, through your publications , channels etc.
